Dr. Alex Zaphiris is a San Francisco-based integrative family physician who uses conventional western medicine along with the best of alternative therapies to help her patients get to the root of their problems. She specializes in working with people who are recovering from opiate addiction as well as people struggling with depression and anxiety.

Dr. Zaphiris is motivated by a deep desire to know and treat the whole person rather than simply manage symptoms. She brings together expertise in Western Medicine, Osteopathic Manual Medicine, Classical Homeopathy, Nutrition, and Mind-Body approaches to help her patients tap into their inner resources to heal and live healthy, happy lives.

A graduate of UCLA and UCSF School of Medicine, Dr. Zaphiris came to medicine after a career in Hollywood behind the camera and in post-production. She completed a Master’s of Science from UC Berkeley and Family Medicine residency from Maine Dartmouth. Dr. Zaphiris is board certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine, and she is a fellow at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.

Her latest project, Recovery Superstar, is an innovative online program for people recovering from opiate addiction. In it, she teaches the latest advances in neuroplasticity and mind body medicine to deepen recovery and help people get their lives back.
