F.A.Q.

Q:
I have special dietary needs, can they be accommodated?

A:

Yes! Just let us know whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, allergies, or have any other dietary restrictions and we will make sure that the chefs will have options for you.
Q:

I love the outdoors but I don’t consider myself extremely fit. Is this trip right for me?

To take advantage of the wilderness part of this trip, you have to be comfortable walking on trails, which are often uneven by nature. That being said, a central part of this expedition is the practice of forest bathing / nature therapy – which is very gentle (even meditative) and usually covers a relatively short distance (1 to 3 miles in average).

The most “strenuous” part of this trip is the visit to Corcovado National Park – which is a 6-hours hike with breaks in between. If that feels too long of a hike, you’re free to skip it and instead spend time at Luna Lodge which offers a number of other activities (wildlife gazing, swimming in the pool or creek, walking on the earthing loop etc.)

Q:

Will there be WiFi at the lodges?

A:

While we want to encourage you to put aside digital gadgets as much as possible (disconnect to reconnect), our lodges do have Wi-Fi available for part of the day.

Q:

Do I need a visa to visit Costa Rica?

A:

“Americans do not need a visa to enter Costa Rica. However, they must have a current valid passport and a return ticket to exit Costa Rica. (Either to return to the US or to go to another country). US passport must be valid for a minimum of one day from the day you enter Costa Rica. If you’re coming from another country, make sure to check with the Costa Rica embassy. ” from: http://www.costarica-embassy.org/index.php?q=node/72

Q:

Do I need a visa to visit Costa Rica?

A:

The CDC constantly updates pages for travel tips and recommended vaccines for different countries. Check out the CDC recommendations for Costa Rica here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/costa-rica

Q:

What time will I arrive at SJO (San Jose Int’l Airport) so I can schedule my international flight back home?

A:

Your domestic flight leaving Carate on Feb 16th is schedule to arrive at SJO no later than 12pm noon local time (unless weather is prohibitive for a safe flight). Ideally, you should give a 3 hour window, so we recommend that you only book an international flight that departs SJO after 3pm.

Q:

Do I need travel medical insurance?

A:

Yes. For your own safely, we require that you carry travel medical insurance. You might consider checking with your credit card company to see what they might offer (and if they do offer any kind of travel insurance – medical or otherwise, note that you would have to use that credit card to pay for your trip in order for you to be covered). A number of companies offer travel medical insurance. A Google search will show you options, often with customers’ ratings and reviews.

Q:

What else do I need to know?

A:

Think of this expedition as an opportunity to shed your old skin and embrace new possibilities in your life. Bring a journal, an intention, and a bag full of wishes. Come as you are and let nature heal you, ground you, and inspire you. We really look forward to having you join us.
