The word “leader“never quite felt like it fit me.
I’m a dreamer. An artist. An empath who loves bringing healing and joy to people and other beings. A foodie who blisses out over chocolate fondue. A guitar player singing devotion to Mother Gaia. A wanderer of the Imaginal Realms – in plain daylight!
Leader?
Maybe… in the realms of wonder, creativity, and sacred delight.
And yet – my mother often tells me that since I was four, I would climb on the kitchen table, waving my fingers, speaking passionately about social and environmental justice.
That hasn’t stopped.
The kitchen table just morphed into film festival podiums, city council meetings, and conversations in circles. And the tone softened – less grasping, more invitation. Less pushing, more heart.
For a long time, I resisted the idea of leadership.
It felt rigid. Top-down. Structured to the point of clenched jaws and furrowed brows. A kind of discipline that felt disconnected from the aliveness I knew – and longed for.
But over time, something shifted.
Through mindfulness practice… through guiding others in nature… through time spent in deep listening – whether in spaces of ceremony with the Huni Kuin people… or in listening to Earth, Sun and what feels sacred…
I began to sense a different kind of leadership. Not just for myself, but for what might bring about healing – within, between us, and in the wider world.
Not power over – but power with.
Not control – but presence.
Not above – but alongside.
Not self-focused – but relational.
Leadership began to feel less like a role… and more like a way of being.
It can live in a caregiver tending to an elder.
In a social worker devoted to a community.
In a student speaking up for the Earth.
In an innovator shaping more life-giving ways forward.
In a musician uplifting spirits.
In someone choosing, again and again, to meet life with awareness and heart.
And maybe… this kind of leadership already lives in you.
What kind of leader are you when you’re most aligned with yourself?
What new way of serving feels like a quiet longing in you?
If you feel a pull to explore or deepen your own way of leading – from presence, from care, from what feels true to you – I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
